Der Körper erkennt innere Kämpfe, er verschließt sich und die Angst kommt zum Vorschein.

Es tauchen Zweifel auf, die den Körper lähmen und auf den Wiederholungsknopf drücken.

Mit dieser neuen Gemäldeserie zeigt Yogi, drückt Yogi ihr Unwohlsein im eigenen Körper aus, das durch gemischte Gefühle erzeugt wird. Gleichzeitig zeigt sie die Schönheit dessen und das Gefühl diese gerne zeigen zu können. Dieser „Lockdown“ wird durch das Konzept unserer täglichen, mechanischen Abläufe verursacht. Die Art und Weise, Gefühle zurückzuhalten und sich nach innen zu verhalten, widerspricht der Natur des tatsächlichen Ausdrucks.

Yogi bricht ihren eigenen Mechanismus, um ihre Bedürfnisse auszudrücken und wünscht sich, dass jede*r es tun sollte. In dieser neuen Gemäldeserie nimmt sie sich ihren persönlichen Raum, geleitet durch ihre Grenzerfahrungen. „Die Sprache des Körpers sollte im Vokabular freigesetzt werden.“

„Zurück zur Normalität“, nennt es Yogi und sagt „Feier alle deine Gefühle, auch wenn sie unangenehm sind.“

Über die Künstlerin

Marielle Yogi, 36 Jahre alt, lebt und arbeitet derzeit als Malerin in der kulturellen Freizone LANDBOUWBELANG in Maastricht. Ihr Repertoire erweitert sie indem sie viel reist, ihre Komfortzone verläßt, Ausstellungen organisiert und überall, wo sie hinkommt, Fußabdrücke hinterlässt. 2016 schloss sie ihr Studium an der Kunstakademie in Maastricht ab und ist seitdem als Malerin unterwegs. Ihr Hauptkonzept heißt HUMANITY. Sie schärft das Bewusstsein für die Unsichtbarkeit der Menschheit, ihre inneren Abwehr gegen die Konzepte der Systeme und spielt damit, über den Tellerrand zu springen und ihre Freiheit in Bildern einzufangen.

Ihr größtes Projekt heißt HIDDEN PROFILES. Ein Malprojekt, das sie in Uganda durchführt. Sie porträtiert diejenigen, die ihr sofort ins Auge fallen. Ein Teil des Erlöses investiert sie in Projekte in mit denen sie seit 2020 in Uganda zusammenarbeitet. 

Ihre unverkennliche Handschrift: Naive und schnelle Linien, den tropfenden Tropfen und die Verwendung vieler Farben.

The body acknowledges inner struggles, locking down, anxiety comes out.

Doubting about it appears, it’s cracking down the brain and goes back into repeat.

With this new series of paintings Yogi exposes her being uncomfortable in her own body, caused by mixed feelings, shutting down and at the same time the beauty of it and feeling comfortable to show it. This ‘lockdown’ is caused by the concept of our daily routines of mechanism. The way to hold back feelings and behave towards the inside is against the nature of actually expressing it.

Yogi breaks her own mechanism into her needs of expressing it and she wishes everyone should do it. She is taking her personal space in this new series of paintings. Her boundaries always tell her to work with it. ‘The language of the body should be set free into vocabulary’.

Back to normal Yogi calls it, celebrate all your feelings, even though they are uncomfortable.

About the artist

Marielle Yogi, 36 years old, is currently living and working as a painter in the cultural freezone LANDBOUWBELANG in Maastricht. Over the years she developed herself by traveling a lot, stepping out of her comfort zone, organizing exhibitions and setting footprints everywhere she goes. In 2016 she graduated from the art academy in Maastricht and ever since she is on the go as a painter.  Her main concept is called HUMANITY. She brings up the awareness of the invisibility of humankind, her inner processes against the concepts of the systems and plays with stepping over the edge and to catch her freedom into paintings.

Her biggest project is called HIDDEN PROFILES. A painting project she runs in Uganda. She portrays the ones who catch her eye immediately. With part of the proceeds she invests and supports the projects she is working with since 2020.

You recognize her style by her naive and quick lines, dripping drops and using a lot of colors. It is her signature.
